One of our physicians is available in the office Monday through Friday.

Patients who require hospitalization, are admitted exclusively to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and will be seen daily Monday through Friday by one of our physicians or covering physicians.  Weekend coverage is provided by a small coverage group consisting exclusively of Board Certified Internists.   

Prothrombin times for patients requiring Coumadin (warfarin) therapy are performed by finger stick in the office.  Results are available immediately and dosage adjustments made as needed at the time. 

 

Complete physicals and follow-up visits are by appointment.

Consultation for LIPID MANAGEMENT and Heart disease prevention services is available by appointment.   The physician of patients with their own primary care doctor will be contacted with recommendations if requested. 

Dr. Desai is available for office GYN care, including yearly exams, PAP smears, breast care, Gardasil immunization, birth control counselling, etc.   

Certification for use of medical cannabis (marijuana) is available by appointment.

Immunizations including Flu vaccine, Pneumonia vaccines (Pneumovax 23 and Prevnar 13), Shingles vaccine, Tetanus vaccine, Adult DTaP  (including protection against pertussis - whooping cough - now recommended for parents and grandparents of infants), Hepatitis vaccines are available. 

EKG, Oximetry,  Joint injections are available.  

PHONE CALLS will be answered immediately or returned by the doctor the same day.

All medical care is delivered by Drs. Blum, and Desai.  Teaching of medical students and PA students is ongoing from time to time.  Care is never delivered by physician assistants or nurse practitioners.
